Fun with Science

A girl making her science project

As a science and research-based global enterprise with core competencies in the life science fields of health care and nutrition, Bayer places tremendous emphasis on supporting science education through initiatives for school children. To encourage love for science, augment problem solving skills and innovative thinking among school students, Bayer has adopted 125 Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) across our production and manufacturing locations and offices.

Promoting Science Education by adoption of Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs)

Science is a fascinating and complex subject that can be challenging to learn. However, science labs can make science learning more engaging and effective. Science activities done in the lab stimulate curiosity by giving students the opportunity to experiment and solve problems. They also provide practical opportunities to explore and gain an understanding of scientific concepts.

Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) is a government initiative of the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) of the NITI Aayog. They are set up in schools across India to foster curiosity, creativity, and imagination in young minds. ATLs provide students with access to tools, equipment, and mentors to help them learn STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) concepts through hands-on projects.

As part of our Corporate Societal Engagement (CSE) initiatives, Bayer has partnered with Niti Aayog since 2021 to support various initiatives of the Atal Innovation Mission. To nurture and strengthen science-based learning, Bayer has adopted a total of 125 ATL schools in seven states. The 50 schools adopted in the later phase are all-girls schools aligned with Bayer’s commitment to Diversity & Inclusion to empower women.

Over the last year and a half, Bayer in partnership with its implementing partners has also trained over 230 ATL coordinators on ATL curriculum. Over 20,000 students across grades 6 to 12 have been nurtured through experiential and gamified technologies to design and build innovative solutions to real-world challenges.

Teacher appreciating students

With AIM embarking on an ambitious program for industry exposure of students, Bayer has joined hands to be the foremost industry partner in this program. The company has opened its manufacturing and production plants and research centres across Vapi, Shamirpet, Chandippa, and Bengaluru to the ATL students.
